About The Position

The Oasis at Death Valley is situated in a lush, spring-fed desert oasis, surrounded by the vast and arid desert of Death Valley National Park. The Oasis operates the historic AAA Four Diamond Inn and Ranch, restaurants, gift shops, and the world's lowest elevation golf course. Both hotels are open year-round and feature swimming pools fed by naturally warm local springs. This internship allows interns to gain hands-on experience within either the lodging or food and beverage departments while participating in online and in-person classes to learn about other hospitality career paths. To be eligible for this internship, you must: Relocate to Death Valley National Park in California for the duration of the program Be studying or interested in pursuing a career in the hospitality industry Why the Oasis at Death Valley?Death Valley National Park is in the northern Mojave Desert in California and is the largest National Park outside of Alaska. Requirements

  • Lodging department interns are required to have a valid Driver's License (learner's permit not accepted)
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must adhere to grooming standards.
  • Must adhere to all safety guidelines when using cleaning materials.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend, push, pull, kneel, lift and stand for extended periods of time. 100% of job involves being on your feet.
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about operations at a high-volume resort property
  • Gain hands-on experience in multiple roles within your department
  • Complete all online courses according to the set schedule.
  • Attend all in-person courses
  • Rotate through various departments to understand daily operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house roles.
  • Network with managers and directors in your department
  • Identify some of the challenges and solutions for operating a sustainable hospitality enterprise within a National Park.
