About The Position

The Hospitalist MD plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive inpatient medical care within a hospital setting, ensuring high-quality treatment and patient safety. This position involves managing a diverse patient population with acute and chronic conditions, coordinating care plans, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimize clinical outcomes. The Hospitalist is responsible for timely diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of hospitalized patients, facilitating smooth transitions of care from admission to discharge. This role demands strong clinical judgment, effective communication with patients and families, and adherence to evidence-based practices and hospital protocols. Ultimately, the Hospitalist MD contributes significantly to improving patient satisfaction, reducing hospital stay lengths, and enhancing overall healthcare delivery within the institution.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the United States.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide inpatient care in a hospital setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Board certification in Hospital Medicine or additional subspecialty certifications.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical documentation.
  • Familiarity with hospital quality metrics and patient safety protocols.
  • Strong background in evidence-based medicine and clinical research.
  • Previous experience working in a multidisciplinary hospital team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct inpatient medical care to adult patients admitted to the hospital, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management.
  • Coordinate with specialists, nursing staff, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Perform daily patient rounds, document clinical findings, and update medical records accurately and promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and discharge planning.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and continuing education to maintain and enhance clinical competencies.
