About The Position

Hospital Surgical Equipment Installation Technician Build safer hospitals. Advance your craft. Love solving mechanical puzzles and seeing your work make a difference for patients? With STERIS, you’ll install mission-critical equipment in operating rooms and sterile processing areas—ensuring hospitals deliver high-quality care every day. Is this you? Hands-on expert who thrives around construction and HVAC environments. Comfortable reading blueprints and electrical schematics. Customer-focused communicator who owns quality and safety. Ready for a travel-heavy schedule with variable hours and occasional overnights. What you’ll do Coordinate installation timing with the Installation Project Manager, site construction teams, and equipment deliveries. Confirm rough-in dimensions and utilities align to specifications; verify transport paths (doorways, elevators, hallways). Uncrate, assemble, position/lift into place, level, connect utilities, and test STERIS sterilizers, surgical lights/booms, and related systems. Complete all service documentation electronically. Finish strong: remove and dispose of packing/crating, wipe down equipment, remove fingerprints, and answer Customer questions before leaving. Travel rhythm Designated territory travel via company vehicle. Day trips and possible Monday–Friday trips. Some weekend work (not to exceed 2 weekends per month). Overtime is common but not guaranteed. High travel/commute with significant driving and likely overnight stays. Territory focus NYC, Manhattan, most of Long Island, and Northern NJ when needed. Exposure to diverse projects across hospital systems; may include travel to other states. Qualifications High School Diploma/GED + 5+ years recent mechanical experience in construction or HVAC installation/repair; OR Associate’s in Electronics, Mechanical, or similar + 1+ year related mechanical experience. Plumbing and electrical experience strongly preferred. Technical and troubleshooting strength; adaptable to changing priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication with Customers. Proficient with computers and Windows software. Willing to work flexible hours, including outside normal business hours. Valid driver’s license; clean driving record. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED + 5+ years recent mechanical experience in construction or HVAC installation/repair; OR Associate’s in Electronics, Mechanical, or similar + 1+ year related mechanical experience.
