About The Position

The Hospital Supervisor serves as the administrative resource person within the Hospital for interpretation and implementation of policies and procedures for all departments. This role collaborates with department directors and nurse managers to guide staff in the process of problem resolution. The supervisor maintains current clinical knowledge relative to age and technology of patients from newborn throughout the lifespan and keeps current with hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in CPR.
  • Certification in NRP.
  • Certification in PALS.
  • Registered Nurse license.

Responsibilities

  • Works with department manager to determine optimal allocation of staff per shift on each unit.
  • Coordinates the care of patients on assigned shift and communicates shift concerns by unit to appropriate department managers/directors.
  • Serves as administrative authority for the smooth function of all units on assigned shift.
  • Notifies administrator and department manager of urgent concerns during shift; for non-urgent concerns, notifies manager by phone message or e-mail.
  • Keeps Associate administrator informed of the needs and problems on a particular shift or unit.
  • Receives employee, patient, and family grievances and refers information to appropriate supervisor.
  • Assists in survey compliance, quality assurance, and staff development duties as assigned.
  • Notifies department manager and organizational development of identified learning needs.
  • Follows identified tracking method for employee call-offs and notifies department managers/directors of call-offs in their units via attendance tracking.
  • Supervises staff and assures survey compliance on a daily basis.
  • Provides guidance and support to staff to better plan workflow.
  • Provides clinical expertise in the management of medical and psychiatric emergencies.
