About The Position

Join STERIS as a Hospital Sterile Processing Equipment Field Engineer. This safety-sensitive position involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining STERIS and competitor equipment used in surgical and sterile processing areas within hospitals. You will install and support complex mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic units, including washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, steam generators, and cart washers, across approximately 160 models. The role offers autonomy, allowing you to prioritize preventive maintenance, service and warranty calls, installations, and field upgrades to meet customer and business needs. You will leverage advanced tech platforms for regulatory compliance and service history documentation, and collaborate with Tech Support, Engineering, and Service Contract Management to resolve challenging issues. Additionally, you will present customers with repair options and pricing, coordinate with Sales for territory opportunities, and support multiple facilities within your assigned territory.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED plus 4+ years of overall work experience, including 2+ years in a mechanical/technical capacity.
  • An associate degree, technical certifications, competitive equipment training, or relevant military background may satisfy the technical portion.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet all required background and physical assessment elements to obtain and maintain existing and new vendor credentialing requirements.
  • Comfort engaging with customers and collaborating across teams.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Basic computing: Windows/email, navigation, mobile apps, and data entry across multiple systems.
  • Compliance with hospital/customer credentialing requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain STERIS and competitor equipment used in surgical and sterile processing areas.
  • Install and support complex mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic units across our flagship OEM portfolio—washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, steam generators, and cart washers—spanning about 160 models.
  • Own your schedule: prioritize PMs, service and warranty calls, installs, and field upgrades to meet customer and business needs.
  • Leverage advanced tech platforms to complete regulatory compliance steps and document/service histories.
  • Collaborate with Tech Support, Engineering, and Service Contract Management to escalate and resolve challenging issues.
  • Present customers with information, pricing, and repair choices.
  • Coordinate with Sales to elevate the experience and identify territory sales opportunities.
  • Support multiple facilities within your assigned territory, aligned to service agreements and customer demand.
