About The Position

Full Time Overnight Shift; no experience required; on the job training provided Must be able to train on dayshift for first 8 weeks. LifeShare is seeking a dependable Blood Products Distribution Technician to join our hospital services team at our Shreveport donor center. The Technician will monitor blood product inventory levels, retrieve blood products from collections sites, receive and fulfill customer orders, and package and deliver blood and blood components to healthcare facilities and to other centers as needed. Providing excellent customer service and adhering to established quality practices, the Technician will help to ensure a safe blood supply is available at healthcare centers in our community when needed for traumas, therapies and treatments. Work Environment/Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent Requires handling of blood and blood products Ability to lift equipment, such as coolers, boxes and supplies up to 40 lbs Ability to work a flexible schedule, including on-call rotation Requires operation of a Company vehicle; must possess a valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle record (3 years of licensed driving history and no DUI convictions and no more than 2 moving violations in past 5 years) Must be able to read and discern packaging labels and document orders Since 1942, LifeShare has operated blood centers to facilitate generous donors sharing the Gift of Life. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Drives Company vehicle to pick up donor blood from blood collection sites and transport blood to the appropriate locations.
  • Prepares all necessary paperwork; separates unsuitable units; packages blood products collected and blood samples tubes and transports to processing facility.
  • Prepares apheresis product in computer.
  • Monitors product inventory levels at all times and notifies supervisor when levels fall below established minimum levels. Identifies and removes outdated products.
  • Answers telephone to receive product orders from hospital customers or other centers; documents orders, selects units, charges out and fills orders.
  • Packages for transport and/or shipment of blood, blood components and/or derivatives to/from the hospital; converts and relabels product.
  • Receives returns of products, documenting appropriately in the computer system.
  • Follows all Company policies and procedures, regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, OSHA, AABB) and complies with good manufacturing practices (cGMP).
  • Participates in various meetings, such as in-service training, continuing education programs, staff meetings, and safety meetings.
  • Maintains, organizes, and cleans and decontaminates functional work area, equipment, and vehicles; reporting malfunctioning equipment or vehicles as soon as detected.
  • Makes routine decisions pertaining to work duties as permitted under policies and procedures, referring to the supervisor any issues which could possibly harm a donor or employee, cause adverse opinions of the Center or the Company, or interfere with the operations of the department or Center.
  • Meets and exceeds customer expectations and adheres to established quality practices while seeking to continually improve work performance.
  • Models LifeShare’s mission and values, integrating them into daily decisions, behaviors and actions.
  • Promotes cooperation and communication within a team to achieve Company and departmental goals and deliverables.
  • Completes other assignments and duties as may be assigned.
