The goal of the Supported Employment Hiring Program is to assist candidates with intellectual and developmental disabilities in finding competitive employment at Ochsner, while providing the necessary support to ensure their success in the workplace. This job serves as an entry-level role within a 12-month workforce development training program. It involves rotations through various functional support roles to assess the intern’s suitability by the end of the program. Under direct supervision, supports leaders, team members, patients, and visitors through completion of assigned administrative tasks and projects. Participates in team meetings, project-related meetings, staff education and development, and in-service opportunities. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Under direct supervision, completes assigned administrative tasks.
  • Under direct supervision, responds to patient and other visitor inquiries, escalating appropriately when needed.
  • Under direct supervision, supports patients, visitors, and team members.
  • Under direct supervision, maintains a safe, clean environment.
  • Under direct supervision, completes assigned projects.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations, and standards.
