About The Position

The UW Medicine Department of Public Safety at Harborview Medical Center is a team of certified security professionals dedicated to ensuring a safe environment. Our services include security patrols, safety escorts, admits, and responding to calls for assistance. The Security Officer works to maintain security and safety through inspection of buildings and grounds Tactfully confront individuals and gain their trust for authority, de-escalating anger to bring about satisfactory solutions Investigate incidents and crimes with the aptitude to complete clear, concise and accurate incident reports and other documentation Patrol and inspect interior and exterior of facility, on foot or in a vehicle. Respond promptly and safely to calls for assistance and “code” calls throughout UWMC Evict, hold or detain persons when directed to do so by the appropriate law enforcement agency, clinical or administrative authority As the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine. Requirements

High school graduation or equivalent
Possess a valid driver's license
No previous felony convictions
Two years full-time college in police science or allied field OR two years of police or campus security experience

Responsibilities

Maintain security and safety through inspection of buildings and grounds
