RN Infection Control Preventionist Job Summary: The RN Infection Control Preventionist facilitates and coordinates facility-wide Infection Prevention programs for the Hospital (LTACH) to assure compliance with local and national regulatory and accrediting standards in order to enhance the quality of patient care consistent with facility policies for the adult to geriatric patient, 18 years and over. The RN Infection Control Preventionist provides surveillance throughout facility for infection control purposes. Coordinates all infection prevention and control activities and programs by assuming direct responsibility for infection surveillance, infection control reporting, and education. The RN Infection Control Preventionist identifies, investigates and records data concerning hospital acquired infections. Initiates appropriate infection control measures. Oversees records of department activities, and budget. Works with Human Resources and Staff Development to educate employees in standard precautions and infection prevention practices. Meets facility, local and state standards, but also to better serve customers.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, microbiology, Public Health or other related health field required.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current State RN license.
  • Certification in Infection Control preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressive acute care experience, including at least three in infection control and prevention.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred.
