About The Position

Hospital pharmacists perform all duties necessary to ensure effective daily operations of all inpatient pharmacy services including but not limited to processing orders for parenteral and enteral medications, monitoring patient drug therapies and interventions, providing drug information, reducing errors, supervising and directing support personnel. They are responsible for the safe and proper distribution and use of medications in patients including neonates, infants less than one year of age, children and adolescents aged 1-18, adults ages 19-65, and elderly over 65. In the absence of pharmacy management, the clinical pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the Pharmacist in Charge or Manager of Pharmacy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
  • Current Pharmacist’s license issued by the Oregon State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Basic Life Support certification with expectation of Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within first year of hire.

  • Two years’ hospital experience or residency.

  • Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests.
  • Ability to exercise sound professional judgment and communicate effectively (orally and in writing).
  • Actively participate in improving processes related to patient safety.
  • Ability to recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to meet the pharmaceutical care needs of all patient populations served by Good Shepherd Medical Center.
  • Ability to interpret and apply standards of practice and legal regulatory compliance policies.
  • The employee supports the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
