About The Position

The position of PAS Registration Floater involves conducting courteous and professional patient interviews across various PAS registration sites, including Community Campus, UH Central Registration, Emergency Departments, Outpatient Registration, Pre-Registration, 550 Harrison Center, and UHCC. The role requires completing insurance eligibility verification and obtaining authorizations for emergency admissions, elective procedures, and elective admissions. Additionally, the floater will conduct quality analysis of registrations, work on claim edits and account level work queues, and act as a liaison between end users and the training team. The position demands meeting accuracy rates within established guidelines and providing flexibility in scheduling to accommodate departmental staffing needs. Participation in cross-training in other admitting areas is also expected. The role requires the ability to prioritize work and handle stressful situations, along with performing support functions such as filing and assisting supervisors in new employee training. Strong customer service skills are essential.

Requirements

  • NYS Department of Civil Service Eligible list or eligible for transfer.
  • One year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Hospital Patient Services Clerk 1 or Nursing Station Clerk 1 for promotional candidates.
  • Two years of full-time clerical experience in a health care setting, or two years of full-time secretarial experience in a health care setting, or two years of full-time patient care experience in a health care setting for open competitive candidates.
