About The Position

The position provides administrative support for the department of rehabilitation, focusing on verifying patient insurance benefits and retrieving authorizations on a daily basis. The role involves consistently monitoring accounts to ensure that necessary steps have been taken for proper reimbursement from insurance companies. The individual will work collaboratively with various departments and staff to resolve any denials and must stay current on changes and updates from the insurance industry. Additionally, the position includes providing support to front desk staff with inquiries and offering backup when necessary, as well as assisting new staff members in their integration into the team. Other clerical duties may be assigned as needed. Effective communication is essential for transferring information and completing a variety of tasks within a specified timeframe. Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills are required, along with computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.

Requirements

  • Must meet one of the following minimum qualifications: NYS Department of Civil Service Eligible list or eligible for transfer.
  • One year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Hospital Patient Services Clerk 1 or Nursing Station Clerk 1 for promotional candidates.
  • Two years of full-time clerical experience in a health care setting, or two years of full-time secretarial experience in a health care setting, or two years of full-time patient care experience in a health care setting for open competitive candidates.

Benefits

  • Salary: $41,399
  • Schedule based on a 40-hour work week, Monday-Friday Days with some holiday coverage required.
