About The Position

The Hospital Patient Service Clerk 1 position involves a variety of duties aimed at providing excellent service to patients and visitors. Responsibilities include signing in patients and visitors at the information desk, issuing visitor passes, and providing directions to appointments. The role requires conducting courteous and professional interviews with patients on the nursing unit, gathering and entering demographic and insurance data into the EPIC system, and obtaining required signatures on hospital forms. Additionally, the clerk will distribute forms to patients, provide information and directions, deliver mail and flowers to patient rooms, and escort patients and visitors in wheelchairs to their appointments. Maintaining knowledge of department policies and procedures is essential, as is the ability to provide flexibility in scheduling to accommodate staffing needs. The position also involves participating in cross-training in other admitting areas and performing support functions, such as assisting supervisors in training new employees. Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills are necessary for success in this role.

Requirements

  • One year full-time clerical, secretarial or patient care experience in a healthcare setting.
