This position is 100% onsite opportunity. The Administrator serves as the lead onsite administrative and clinical manager on the evening, night, holiday, and weekend shifts. They provide specialized clinical consulting and administrative support across all departments for the hospitals. They assure all of the hospitals' departments operate efficiently during the off-shifts by working closely with the administrative and management staff, physicians, nurses, patients and their families. The position requires a working knowledge of the overall operation of the hospitals, efficient Patient Throughput, Crisis Intervention, Conflict Resolution and Excellent Interpersonal Communication Skills. A high level of personal integrity and accountability are required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Current RN Illinois license
  • BLS Certification
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in progressive hospital/nursing management positions preferably with broad hospital/patient care management responsibilities
  • A working knowledge of the overall operation of the Hospitals and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work with diverse staff and management groups in a complex organization
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills with the ability to work independently and as a self-motivator
  • Working knowledge of word processing, database and spreadsheet programs

Responsibilities

  • Serves as final clinical authority in processing patient/concerns/issues/complaints on the evening, night and weekend & holiday shifts.
  • Guides staff on completion of report & distributes reports to clinical leadership as appropriate.
  • Completes & distributes appropriate reports to the clinical director & manager of the area involved in any type of occurrence, & senior management when necessary.
  • Has final management authority over all of the Hospitals' departments on evening, night, weekend & holiday shifts in the absence of regular department management.
  • Works closely with the Emergency Dept., Patient Logistics Transfer, Bed Access, Admitting, Staffing Resource Office, individual Nursing Units, Operating Room & Outpatient Clinics to assure patients are assigned beds & transferred appropriately.
  • Functions as facilitator to implement & expedite bed placement.
  • Follows-up with all departments as a means to maximize efficiency & to drive & expedite the Throughput process.
  • Acts as liaison with senior management & other levels of management across departments to assure the smooth & efficient operation of the Hospitals.
  • Provides feedback to Dir/Mgr. & guidance with unit management in relation to staff performance, fitness for duty, etc.
  • Attends all emergency situations in the Hospitals & provides administrative assistance & support as well as providing critiques of effectiveness of emergency responses.
  • Directs bed management meetings during assigned hours & follows up to facilitate timely throughput.
  • Serves a resource to all hospital support areas & provides problem solving support as needed.
  • Serves as on-site administration of the Hospitals during evening, night, weekend & holiday shifts.
  • Alerts Senior Leadership, Public Affairs & Media Relations personnel regarding Hospital News Events.
  • Provides assistance to staff as needed.
  • Rounds to unit when assistance is required & makes regular rounds with UCM to accomplish purposeful rounding.
  • Has a strong working knowledge of the Hospitals' policies & procedures as well as the union contracts covering the various bargaining units.
  • Is familiar with the regulatory requirements of JCAHO and IDPH as relates to hospital operations.
  • Locates & procures material and Human Resources necessary to assure continuous operations.
  • Relocates staff via floating, implementing census managing as needed to balance workload/patient care needs.
  • Has final authority for staffing decisions during assigned hours.
  • Directs & assists the Disaster response in accordance with Hospitals' policies.
  • Acts as HICS Commander until designated person arrives.
  • Ensures basic hospital functions continue in times of crisis.
  • Consults with clinical staff and advises them in complex patient care situations.
  • Anticipates potential risk situations and communicates these promptly to the director & managers of the area involved and to the medical/legal department.
  • Serves as resource to all hospital support areas & provides problem solving support as needed.
  • Contributes to translating the Annual Operating Plan into measureable goals & sustainable outcomes.
