About The Position

The Hospital Medicine Department for MUSC Health PeeDee Region Medical Centers is seeking an Acute Care Advanced Practice Provider to provide PRN adult in-patient care. Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Hourly / Non- exempt Hours per week: Varies Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Varies; Opportunities for both day and night shifts; 7:00am -7:00pm or 7:00pm - 7:00am Patient Population Focus : Inpatient Patient Population Age Range : 13 years-death

Requirements

Physician Assistant: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or APRN: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN as noted below: AGPNP/ANP (Adult Gerontology Primary Care NP or Adult NP): Adult pts (13 years to death), stable chronic disease state management or primary care setting. FNP (Family NP): (birth to death) Stable chronic disease state management, primary care across the lifespan.
Must have at least 6 months of hospital medicine experience
All certifications must be current and complete prior to start date:
Currently licensed (or eligible) in the state of South Carolina as a Physician Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners or as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with the SC Board of Nursing
Requires certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). If ACLS is not current, provider must enroll and have received certificate by start date.
Basic Life Support (BLS).
DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to first day.
Graduation from an approved Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessor agencies.
Must be licensed in the state of South Carolina, and certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required

Physician Assistant : Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or APRN AGACNP/ACNP (Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner): Adult pts (13 years to death), acutely ill or injured, potentially unstable, or technologically dependent (vents, drips, monitors, etc.)
Minimum of 1 year as a Physician Assistant or FNP/AGACNP in Hospital medicine and ICU experience.

Responsibilities

Provides direct care to patients through the following activities:
Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations
Evaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline
Initiates referrals to other health care providers, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physician
Documents and bills for direct care provided
Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice
Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research
Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization
Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education
Potential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student; and facilitates the learning of other new team members
APRN or PA must maintain licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state law
