About The Position

The Hospital Laboratory Director is responsible for overseeing the 24-hour operations of the clinical laboratory, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. This role involves managing laboratory personnel, budgetary planning, and maintaining high-quality service delivery while fostering a positive work environment.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• 5 years of laboratory experience, including supervisory experience.
• State of Florida Supervisor's License in at least 3 areas: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Histology, Microbiology, Serology/Immunology.
• Experience in clinical laboratory settings.

• Familiarity with laboratory quality improvement processes.

Responsibilities

• Direct the operations and activities of the clinical laboratory to meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Manage laboratory specimen collection, management, and testing services.
• Participate in strategic and budgetary planning for laboratory operations.
• Monitor employee and departmental performance to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
• Develop and implement new policies and procedures as needed.
• Ensure compliance with quality improvement initiatives and customer feedback mechanisms.
• Monitor resource utilization, including payroll and supplies, and take corrective actions as necessary.
• Prepare and submit capital expenditure requests and annual budgets.
• Provide management, coaching, and training to laboratory staff.
• Conduct performance evaluations and manage personnel actions.
