About The Position

The Hospital Laboratory Director is responsible for overseeing the 24-hour operations of the clinical laboratory, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. This role involves managing laboratory specimen collection, personnel, and budgetary planning while striving for operational excellence and high-quality patient care.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• 5 years of laboratory experience, including supervisory experience.
• State of Florida Supervisor's License in at least 3 areas: Blood Bank/Immunohematology, Chemistry, Hematology, Histology, Microbiology, Serology/Immunology.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

• Direct the operations and activities of the clinical laboratory to meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Manage laboratory specimen collection, management, and testing services.
• Participate in strategic and budgetary planning for laboratory operations.
• Monitor employee and departmental performance to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
• Develop and implement new policies and procedures as needed.
• Ensure quality improvement through monitoring systems and corrective action plans.
• Manage fiscal responsibilities including resource utilization and budget preparation.
• Oversee human resource functions including staff evaluation, training, and performance management.
• Communicate effectively with hospital and laboratory personnel to ensure service delivery and quality standards.
