About The Position

The Hospital Laboratory Director is responsible for overseeing the 24-hour operations of the clinical laboratory, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. This role involves managing laboratory personnel, strategic planning, budget management, and maintaining high-quality service delivery. The director will also focus on quality improvement, fiscal responsibility, and human resource management within the laboratory setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required or Master's Degree.
  • State of Florida Supervisor's License in at least 3 areas: Blood Bank/Immunohematology, Chemistry, Hematology, Histology, Microbiology, Serology/Immunology.
  • Five years of experience at a supervisory level in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination required unless exempted.

  • Experience with automated laboratory systems.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in laboratory settings.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the operations and activities of the clinical laboratory to meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage laboratory specimen collection, management, and testing services.
  • Participate in strategic and budgetary planning for laboratory operations.
  • Monitor employee and departmental performance to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement new policies and procedures as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assessment and improvement data collection and reporting.
  • Monitor resource utilization including payroll, supplies, and expenses.
  • Prepare and submit capital expenditure requests and annual budgets.
  • Provide management, coaching, and training to laboratory staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and manage employee relations.
