About The Position

The position involves supporting academic instruction for students who are unable to attend school due to health or psychological reasons. The role requires participation in General Education Homebound (GEH) meetings or ARD committee meetings for assigned students, demonstrating knowledge of and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans. The individual will collaborate with the teacher of record to provide instruction tailored to the cognitive, effective, and physical abilities of each student, considering their medical and psychological conditions. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential to effectively serve multiple campuses while managing frequent schedule changes. The position also requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to work independently with students, staff, and parents. The individual will develop instructional flow from the teacher of record to the student, facilitate instructional activities, utilize technology for instruction, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with program requirements. Regular attendance at the worksite is mandatory, and the role involves providing instructional support in the student's home, acknowledging the inherent risks involved.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a directly related field.
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned.
  • Teacher Certification (SPED, Content, and other endorsements).
  • Must have content certification to serve GEH students.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic technology used in education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current curriculum goals and instructional practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with professional peers in a cooperative effort.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
  • Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.
  • Must be able to enter the student's home to provide instructional support.
  • Must adhere to vaccination requirements of the hospital and residential facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Understand curriculum and support academic instruction for students unable to attend school due to health or psychological reasons.
  • Participate in General Education Homebound (GEH) meeting or ARD committee meeting for assigned students.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and implement Individual Education Plan (IEPs) and 504 plans for assigned students.
  • Collaborate with teacher of record to provide instruction that the student would have received in the classroom.
  • Demonstrate organizational and time management skills to effectively serve multiple campuses.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Develop a cadence of how instruction will flow from the teacher of record to the student.
  • Facilitate the implementation of instructional activities and assigned tasks provided by the student's campus teacher of record.
  • Utilize appropriate technology needed to enhance and deliver instruction.
  • Maintain accurate records for enrollment, attendance, and instructional logs.
  • Identify and obtain all necessary instructional materials from the student's campus and teacher of record.
  • Comply with time and effort reporting requirements for federally funded positions.
  • Provide instructional support in the student's home, understanding the inherent risks.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
