About The Position

The Psychiatric Social Worker is a key member of an interdisciplinary team responsible for providing direct assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and psycho-education to patients and their families. This role requires expertise in various treatment modalities and a strong understanding of psychopathology to ensure timely and appropriate clinical interventions. The majority of the work involves direct patient care across different age groups, necessitating effective communication and documentation skills.

Requirements

  • Two years of post-graduate mental health therapy experience within the last five years.
  • Master's degree in a related Behavioral Health Care field.
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California) OR Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California) OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California).
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize current DSM nomenclature.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial interviews with members to interpret psychological and social complaints.
  • Timely assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and intervention for members.
  • Select appropriate treatment modalities based on members' presenting problems.
  • Provide effective communication of clinical material to members and clinical staff.
  • Ensure high levels of customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Document clinical encounters appropriately in members' charts.
  • Maintain knowledge of KP and community resources.
  • Adhere to mandated guidelines for patient clinical care and licensing requirements.
  • Maintain professional licensure and compliance with regulatory policies.
  • Provide treatment to adults, adolescents, and children.
  • Render immediate guidance and therapy for members in crisis.
  • Maintain written records of therapy and prepare necessary reports and communications.
  • Provide clinical consultation regarding family interactions and community resources.
  • Conduct telephone assessments, counseling, and referrals.
  • Participate in quality management and continuous quality improvement activities.
