We’re building something meaningful—and we’re doing it together. Work Style & Culture Fit The Hospital Director (HD) supports the daily operations and employee experience of assigned Scout hospitals. This role ensures the clinical teams have the operational support, staffing structure, and communication needed to provide excellent patient and client care while maintaining Scout’s culture and values. The HD serves as the primary operational partner to the clinical leadership team and acts as the first point of contact for team members regarding staffing, scheduling, workflow and non-medical client experience concerns. This role focuses on clinic-level operational execution, ensuring consistency and strong team engagement across assigned locations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • 10+ years in the Veterinary Industry
  • Previous experience in a lead, supervisor or management role
  • Must be a strong problem solver and enjoy daily challenges
  • Must be a true collaborator and willing to engage in open and judgement free conversations
  • Must have a strong foundation in crucial conversations
  • Must have superior interpersonal skills and be capable of being approachable while maintaining a leadership presence
  • Must be a strong decision maker and able to make timely and educated judgements

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Maintain consistent communication with in-clinic teams regarding staffing updates, workflow changes, and operational announcements
  • Serve as the primary operational liaison between in-clinic teams and clinical leadership roles
  • Ability to provide positive client interactions/experiences
  • Assist with marketing strategy and attendance at large events
  • Coordinate employee engagement and appreciation events
  • Recognition of personal milestones and life events within the team to promote engagement and employee growth and longevity
  • Manage schedules for all non-DVM clinical team members at assigned locations
  • Maintain schedule in applicable systems for all assigned locations
  • Serve as the first point of contact for non-DVM clinical team staffing adjustments, shift coverage, and attendance
  • Maintain appropriate staffing of assigned locations
  • Collaborate with the Senior HD and TA in recruitment and staffing of assigned clinics
  • Collaborate with Senior HD to support onboarding for non-DVM clinical team members
  • Collaborate with Senior HD to facilitate training on front-of-house processes and client experience best practices
  • Conduct non-DVM clinical employee performance feedback on a predictable and regular cadence
  • Collaborate with Senior HD to develop and execute performance support
  • Maintain documentation related to attendance, accountability and corrective action when necessary
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for non-medical client concerns and client experience
  • Collaborate with Senior HD to improve front-of-house processes and communication workflows
  • Partner with clinical leadership for client concerns that require medical follow-up
  • Monitor non-medical and medical inventory needs
  • Maintain communication with inventory leadership regarding needs and trends across assigned locations
  • Participate in operational meetings (clinical leadership, HR, finance, etc.)
  • Coordination and facilitation of all staff meeting across assigned locations
  • Manage bi-weekly payroll for all clinical team members across assigned locations
  • This role is responsible for ensuring coverage of front-of-house roles, which may occasionally require filling in to assist with clinical shifts as needed
