About The Position

Carilion Clinic is seeking a Hospital Dentist to join our growing team in Roanoke, Virginia. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to work within a clinic-based, academic program that emphasizes teaching, research, and clinical dentistry. The team consists of 12 dentists, 4 General Practice residents, 22 dental assistants, 5 dental hygienists, and 17 non-clinical support staff. The Section of Dental Care provides advanced in-hospital dental care, including inpatient and outpatient services, and has a pediatric dental program. The position requires an academic appointment at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) and offers unique educational experiences through the General Dental Residency program and the upcoming Pediatric Dentistry residency. The program is based in a Level-1 trauma and academic health center, providing comprehensive coverage to over one million people in a large, rural, multi-state area.

Requirements

• DDS/DMD degree from an accredited Dental School.
• GPR/AEGD background required.
• Two years of hospital experience preferred.
• Evidence of strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive dental care to patients in a hospital setting.
• Participate in teaching and mentoring dental residents and students.
• Engage in research activities through affiliations with the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute and other partners.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care and outcomes.
• Contribute to the development of the Pediatric Dentistry residency program.
