Chicago Behavioral Hospital’s Central Business Office is seeking a detail-oriented Hospital Data Entry Specialist to support daily data processing operations. This role is responsible for accurately entering and balancing charges, payments, and adjustments in the accounting system, as well as reviewing remittance advice from payors and applying appropriate contractual and denial-related adjustments. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and has a basic understanding of healthcare reimbursement processes.

  • Provide data processing support for the preparation of various facility reports as assigned.
  • Print daily / monthly management reports, as required.
  • Provide data processing support for accounting activities to include:
  • Data entry of charges, payments, and adjustments are entered into software package.
  • Billing
  • Process Census daily and review dayend/census reports
  • Assure accounts receivable postings are current and balanced to the reports requested.
  • Provide additional support to the department as requested.
  • Review remittance advices (ERAs/EOBs) to identify payment, denial, and adjustment information.
  • Apply appropriate write-offs, contractual adjustments, and denials based on payor policies.
  • Accurately note account activity in the system, clearly documenting reasons for adjustments or non-payment.
  • Identify and escalate trends in denials or payment discrepancies to leadership.
  • Collaborate with follow-up and collections teams to ensure timely resolution of remaining account balances
  • Maintain compliance with payer contracts, billing guidelines, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Education & Licensure: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: One (1) year data entry experience, preferably in a health care setting, with a working knowledge of computers and business software application programs (particularly Excel). Prior experience with data entry of accounts receivables helpful or any combination of education, training or experience in a health care business office environment.
  • Additional Requirements: May be required to work flexible hours, to include overtime.
