About The Position

Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, part of Select Medical, is seeking a Hospital Cook for our Inpatient Rehabilitation facility located at 1199 Pleasant Valley Way, West Orange, NJ. This position is per diem/PRN with shift hours from 6AM-2PM or 11AM-7PM, including every other weekend. The base rate for this position is $21 per hour. As a Cook, you will work with a dedicated kitchen and dietary team, impacting patient care and their quality of life while enjoying flexible scheduling and opportunities for growth and advancement within a network of over 50,000 employees nationwide.

Requirements

• One (1) year cooking experience required.

Nice To Haves

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Culinary Arts degree preferred.
• Completion of state or local food safety training course preferred.
• Healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare foods for patients, staff, and guests.
• Assist with general cleaning of the cooking and eating areas.
• Supervise dietary staff in the absence of the Manager, ensuring adherence to facility and departmental policies and procedures.
• Follow proper sanitation, safety, and infection control policies.
• Accept and understand both verbal and written instructions.
• Provide high quality food preparation and service.
• Clean and maintain equipment to meet department standards.
• Maintain high standards of quality food production and portion control.
• Demonstrate a willingness to help with work that needs to be done.
• Take initiative to identify problems and bring about positive and sustainable solutions.
