Pay Range: $17.25 - $21.16 Position Overview Note - While a pay range is listed, the wage for this position is an hourly rate of $17.25 The Hospital Billing Staff Intern functions within an academy-style environment, balancing didactic instruction with hands-on technical system training. This role is expected to develop and sustain a foundational command of revenue cycle management and hospital billing protocols. Note: Candidates hired into this role MUST be able to commit to twelve (12) weeks of full-time training Monday through Friday with a total of 40 hours per week. 100% attendance is required at all classes and clinical assignments; make-ups will be permitted for a maximum of 16 hours of class time for emergency purposes only with NO EXCEPTIONS.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED
  • Basic computer skills
  • Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to balance coursework, clinical assignments and departmental needs

  • Prior billing experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Read, understand and remember technical instructions, billing rules and office procedures
  • Remain fully engaged and participate in all hands-on practice sessions and group activities
  • Maintain an 80% average or higher throughout the internship; employees in this role MUST have a passing grade by the midterm to continue the program and take the final exam
  • Complete all classwork and homework assignments on time and follow all classroom and company policies
  • Use any downtime to help with department needs or to catch up on personal training and education
  • Perform other duties as assigned
