About The Position

Good Samaritan Hospice, a mission of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, provides compassionate home care, facility based, and inpatient hospice services to our patients and their families. Our home care coverage area spreads throughout several counties in Western Pennsylvania with inpatient locations in Wexford, Cabot, and Beaver. The Good Samaritan Hospice team works together to provide relief through pain control and symptom management, while offering emotional, social and spiritual support for the patient and family. Good Samaritan Hospice, an entity of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Hospice Spiritual Care Coordinator to join our care team and provide spiritual and emotional support to those we serve in the South Allegheny County area. We are committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered end-of-life care. Our team works together to support patients and their families physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Position Summary The Hospice Spiritual Care Coordinator offers spiritual counseling, emotional support, and pastoral care to patients, families, and staff in keeping with their beliefs and traditions. This role is an integral part of the interdisciplinary hospice team, working collaboratively to honor the values and wishes of each patient while promoting comfort, dignity, and peace. This is a part time position working 2-3 days a week.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in counseling or graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology
  • Ability to work in an interfaith setting with different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs and values
  • Solid computer skills, including Word
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Outstanding communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Reliable independent means of transportation with a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and at least the minimum state required vehicle insurance

Responsibilities

  • Provide spiritual support and guidance to patients and families, respecting individual faith traditions and cultural values.
  • Offer emotional support during illness, end-of-life, grief, and bereavement processes.
  • Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary care team, attending care conferences and contributing to individualized care plans.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support in urgent or emotionally charged situations.
  • Document visits and care provided in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support hospice staff with counseling, encouragement, and spiritual care as needed.
