About The Position

We’re seeking a caring and adaptable Hospice Resource Nurse (RN) to support hospice patients and families by providing coverage across nearby service areas as needed. This role helps ensure continuity of care during census changes, staff illness, and vacations. Full Time (1.0 FTE) Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week This position requires an average of 1-2 weekends per year and 1-2 weeknights per month of on-call coverage. A holiday on call rotation is also required. Travel requirements This position is based out of the Waterloo office. You will provide local coverage to nearby communities – all within 30 minutes of Waterloo. All travel in and outside of Waterloo is fully reimbursed . Paid travel time and mileage.

Requirements

  • Current Iowa state RN license required.
  • Positive attitude and team player.
  • Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to learn work-related software and have basic typing skills.
  • 2 years of recent experience as a nurse in a related field preferred.
  • Current Iowa driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and car insurance required.
  • Ability to move 50lbs with our without accommodation.
  • In an 8-hour day, employee may remain in a stationary position 1-5 hours and move about inside CVH site offices/locations, meeting spaces, patient residences, and healthcare facility locations 3-7 hours (or vice versa).
  • Pre-employment/post-offer physical, TB, and drug screen required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • 2 years of recent experience as a nurse in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support continuity of care during coverage needs.
  • Provide compassionate hospice nursing care.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team.
  • Educate patients and families on comfort and symptom management.
  • Complete timely, accurate documentation.
