The General Manager, Hospice, is responsible for overseeing all aspects of clinical care, business development, sales leadership, compliance and financial performance for a census of 200+ patients and a $25M+ P&L. Blends strategic vision, operational excellence, and compassionate leadership to ensure the highest standards of end-of-life care.

  • Develops and executes regional growth strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and clinical excellence.
  • Leads and mentors a high-performing sales team to drive census growth and referral partnerships.
  • Cultivates relationships with hospitals, SNFs, physicians, and community organizations.
  • Oversees the clinical leaders who manage the interdisciplinary clinical teams (nurses, social workers, chaplains, aides) delivering care to 200+ patients.
  • Assures compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation, state regulations, and accreditation standards at all times.
  • Achieves CAHPS Rating of 4 stars or greater.
  • Manages a $20M–$30M+ P&L with full accountability for revenue, cost control, and EBITDA performance.

  • Directs staff in performance of their duties including admission, discharge, transfer, revocation, and provision of service to patients.
  • Ensures appropriate staff supervision during all service hours.
  • Monitors service utilization to ensure delivery of comprehensive care.
  • Ensures services provided by other agencies are authorized by hospice.
  • Monitors operational progress toward accomplishing operational and strategic goals.
  • Ensures appropriate data collection and regular, complete reports are received by the Governing Body.
  • Ensures adequate space, equipment and supplies are available.
  • Ensures actionable objectives are derived from evaluation of hospice services and personnel.
  • Ensures collaboration with agencies and vendors for effective management of services.
  • Ensures standards of ethical business and clinical practice are maintained.
  • Participates in the daily Admissions Stand-Up call to ensure clear communication and alignment between Marketing, Intake and Clinical Teams to meet budget adherence and census targets.
  • Participates in Business Development meetings to ensure high focus on growth and accountability to meet budget targets.
  • Attends all Senior management meetings to ensure all disciplines working collaboratively on business development performance, market trends, and strategic initiatives to meet budget Collaborates with interdisciplinary leadership to align growth strategies with clinical capacity and operational readiness.
  • Oversees accurate tracking and analysis of all NTUC cases to identify patterns, root causes and process improvement opportunities.
  • Leads market analysis and competitive intelligence efforts to identify emerging opportunities and threats.
  • Models a growth-focused leadership style that emphasizes motivation, accountability, and professional development.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Healthcare Administration, Business, or Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum 7–10 years in healthcare leadership, with at least 3–5 years in hospice or home health.
  • Proven experience managing large interdisciplinary teams (100+ staff) and 200+ patient census.
  • Demonstrated success leading business development and sales teams in a competitive market.
  • Direct P&L responsibility for $20M–$30M+ operations, with strong budgeting and forecasting skills.
  • Deep understanding of CMS hospice regulations, CA Department of Public Health, and CHAP/Joint Commission standards.
