About The Position

JSSA Hospice is looking for a PRN on call Registered Dietician to provide as needed consult to tailor meal plans to accommodate reduced appetite, swallowing difficulties, and medication side effects for end of life patiens. Requirements

  • Must hold an active, unencumbered license or certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) to practice in Maryland and Virginia.
  • Previous experience in a clinical, geriatric, or hospice setting.
  • Expertise in medical nutrition therapy, symptom management (e.g., dysphagia, decreased appetite), and familiarity with hospice-specific care, such as navigating, supporting, or stopping tube feedings.
  • Strong counseling skills to provide sensitive, patient-centered care for families and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.

  • Conduct nutritional assessments focused on comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
  • Develop individualized, patient-centered, and often "comfort-focused" meal plans.
  • Educate families on the natural, expected changes in nutritional needs during end-of-life.
