About The Position

The Hospice Community Outreach Director is responsible for promoting Lutheran Hospice services through comprehensive marketing and outreach strategies. This role involves building relationships with referral sources, leading educational initiatives, and enhancing the hospice program's visibility within the community. The Community Outreach Director works closely with management, ensuring the hospice program’s growth, meeting census goals, and maintaining a high level of patient and caregiver satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in sales, marketing, healthcare or public relations.
  • Strong public speaking and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement creative marketing strategies.
  • Knowledge of hospice regulations and care philosophy, or willingness to learn.
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects while adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be a licensed driver with a reliable, insured vehicle and the ability to travel across the service area.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks requiring frequent travel and movement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan to promote hospice services and meet census goals.
  • Conduct outreach to various referral sources, including nursing facilities, hospitals, physicians, case managers, churches, and community organizations.
  • Maintain approved marketing materials and support strategic initiatives through outreach events, health fairs, workshops, and presentations.
  • Serve as the public liaison for Lutheran Hospice, ensuring consistent messaging and representation in the community.
  • Develop and deliver presentations tailored to different audiences, promoting hospice services and maintaining positive relationships with media and community members.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage special events such as vendor fairs, in-service training, and community outreach programs to promote hospice services.
  • Assist with implementing special projects and initiatives to enhance the hospice program, including fundraising efforts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including interdisciplinary staff, to align marketing efforts with program development.
  • Support team members in understanding hospice philosophy and regulations to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Assist with securing new vendor contracts and maintaining relationships with existing vendors to support program growth.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of hospice regulations and standards to ensure marketing efforts comply with all applicable laws and policies.
  • Ensure marketing materials and outreach activities adhere to regulatory requirements and maintain records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Follow infection control guidelines and maintain privacy rules and regulations as per HIPAA.
  • Attend all meetings and complete in-services and mandatory training.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and high-quality care by showing compassion and empathy towards patients and their families.
  • Provide leadership and support to hospice staff, encouraging their participation in outreach activities and helping them become effective ambassadors for the organization.
  • Participate in in-service education, team meetings, and relevant committees to foster continuous learning and team cohesion.
  • Monitor and manage the marketing budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Prepare and present written and verbal reports to management on outreach activities and program developments.
