About The Position

The position involves planning and coordinating spiritual services for United Hospice families and patients. The role requires effective interaction with various age groups and the ability to work independently as well as within an interdisciplinary team. The individual will provide spiritual services based on the identified needs of patients and families, ensuring that their spiritual values and beliefs are respected. Responsibilities include assessing spiritual needs, providing consultation and education, performing sacramental functions, and offering grief and bereavement counseling. The position also involves collaboration with community clergy and participation in team conferences.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Master’s degree from an accredited theological school/seminary.
  • Completion of 1-4 units in Clinical Pastoral Education from a nationally recognized provider.
  • Two years of ministerial experience.
  • Appropriate endorsement within his/her denomination (e.g., ordination).
  • Previous training and/or experience in death and loss issues.
  • Current Driver’s License and Automobile Liability Insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with a variety of different age groups.

  • Provide consultation, education, and support for other members of the hospice team.
  • Perform sacerdotal functions as necessary.
  • Assist with volunteer training as requested.
  • Serve as a member of the Interdisciplinary Group.
  • Assist with on-call chaplaincy coverage.
  • Act as a liaison to community clergy.
  • Provide grief and bereavement counseling to families.
  • Conduct memorial/funeral services as requested.
  • Keep supervisor informed of daily activities and issues.
  • Maintain effective relationships with coworkers and management.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate honesty and integrity at all times.
  • Respond to change productively and handle additional projects as assigned.
