About The Position

The Chaplain plays a vital role in providing spiritual care and support to patients, families, and staff within the healthcare setting. This position is focused on fostering a compassionate environment that respects the diverse beliefs and values of individuals while addressing their emotional and spiritual needs. The Chaplain will engage in grief counseling, pastoral care, and program development to enhance the overall well-being of those they serve. By collaborating with healthcare professionals, the Chaplain ensures that patient rights are upheld and that holistic care is integrated into treatment plans. Ultimately, the Chaplain's work aims to promote healing and comfort during challenging times, making a significant impact on the lives of patients and their families.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Seminary with basic C.P.E. units or posses a Counseling Degree from an Accredited College or University.
  • Experience in the ministry or in a chaplaincy spiritual counseling position.
  • Ability to provide spiritual care without value judgment on personal spiritual beliefs, and belief in the hospice concept of terminal care.
  • Must arrange travel and be able to access client homes independently.
  • Must have ability to work independently of direct on-site supervision.
  • Must carry $100,000/$300,000 automobile liability insurance.
  • Must carry a minimum of $100,000 automobile insurance.
  • Must be able to pass Criminal Records Background Check.
  • Must be able to pass the Driving Records Check upon hire and annually.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Hospice Care preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct grief counseling sessions and support individuals coping with loss and bereavement
  • Participates as an active member of the Interdisciplinary Team for the assigned territory.
  • Completes spiritual assessment of each patient/family, and follows up as needed.
  • Provides support and spiritual care to patients and family in keeping with their beliefs.
  • Conducts or makes arrangements for funeral or memorial services as needed.
  • Advises team of problems concerning patient or family.
  • Acts as a liaison with the religious community, and advises patient’s pastor of patient’s involvement in the Hospice Program.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director.
