About The Position

A chaplain at Midland Care Connection’s Center for Hope & Healing provides compassionate spiritual and emotional support to individuals and families grieving the loss of a loved one. The chaplain listens, offers presence and guidance, and supports people of all faiths or no faith through counseling, grief groups, and memorial or healing activities. They work as part of an interdisciplinary team to help clients find meaning, hope, and comfort while respecting each person’s beliefs, values, and unique grieving process. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in theology, divinity, pastoral care, counseling, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience providing spiritual care, grief support, or counseling
  • Ability to support individuals of diverse faith backgrounds and those with no religious affiliation
  • Strong active listening, empathy, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working with individuals and families coping with grief and loss
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary care team
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Divinity (MDiv) or related advanced degree
  • Board certification or eligibility through a recognized chaplaincy organization (e.g., APC, NACC)
  • Previous experience in hospice, palliative care, or bereavement services
  • Experience facilitating grief support groups, including for children and families
  • Training in grief counseling, trauma-informed care, or bereavement support
  • Familiarity with community resources and end-of-life care practices
  • Experience leading memorial services, rituals, or healing ceremonies
  • Cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations
