The Hospice Chaplain is responsible for planning and coordinating spiritual services for PruittHealth Hospice families and patients. This role involves providing spiritual support based on the identified needs of patients and families, ensuring that their spiritual values and beliefs are respected. The chaplain will assess spiritual needs, provide grief and bereavement counseling, conduct memorial services, and serve as a liaison to community clergy. The position requires effective communication, the ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity.

  • Provide spiritual services to patients and families based on their identified needs.
  • Assess the spiritual needs/concerns of patients and families.
  • Ensure spiritual support is available to patients and families.
  • Provide consultation, education, and support for other members of the hospice team.
  • Perform sacerdotal functions as necessary.
  • Assist with volunteer training as requested.
  • Serve as a member of the Interdisciplinary Group.
  • Assist with on-call chaplaincy coverage.
  • Act as a liaison to community clergy.
  • Provide grief and bereavement counseling to families.
  • Conduct memorial/funeral services as requested.
  • Keep supervisor informed of daily activities and issues.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company information.
  • Respond to change productively and handle additional projects as assigned.
  • Completion of a Master's degree from an accredited theological school/seminary.
  • Completion of 1-4 units in Clinical Pastoral Education from a nationally recognized provider.
  • Two years of ministerial experience.
  • Appropriate endorsement within his/her denomination (e.g., ordination).
  • Previous training and/or experience in death and loss issues.
  • Current Driver's License and Automobile Liability Insurance.
  • Attendance - must maintain timely, regular attendance.
  • Punctuality.
  • Professional appearance.
  • Communicates well with patients/residents/clients and family members.
  • Answers questions when appropriate in a professional manner.
