Position Summary The Horticulture Manager will support the planning, coordination, and execution of the crew’s horticultural and landscape maintenance activities. This team member will play a critical role in ensuring that our clients’ grounds and yards are properly cared for by meeting or exceeding their expectations. This team member will report to the General Manager of the local branch.

Requirements

  • Two to three years of experience in Fertilization and Chemicals leading multiple technicians and properties required.
  • Should possess the ability to identify turf grass types, ornamental plants species, weeds, insects, and disease.
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; organizational and management skills; mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of pertinent regulations, policies, and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, and applications.
  • Ability to respond to customer needs and requests professionally and effectively.
  • Aspire knowledge and inventory management.
  • Ability to read application rates on labels, and some basic math to be able to calibrate fertilizer spreaders
  • Pass a background check.
  • Required to stand, walk, crouch, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear.
  • Ability to lift 50+ bags of fertilizer, chest high, several times a day in hot temperatures.
  • Ability to work in extreme conditions such as hot, cold, high humidity, or rain.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license (must be issued from United States for at least 3 years).
  • Clean driving history for at least 3 years.
  • Pass a drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • It’s preferred that the candidate have an active and valid Florida Certified Pest Control Operator License in Lawn and Ornamental but not required.
  • Certifications preferred in Agronomic, L&O, and Horticulture.
  • Bilingual- Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a company vehicle (truck/trailer) with equipment to and from assigned client locations.
  • Perform landscape enhancement tasks, including but not limited to spreading fertilizer, mixing and applying chemicals.
  • Planning, scheduling, and implementing the tasks associated with fertilizer and chemical applications for multiple field technicians. These activities must result in compliance with contract specifications, budgets, and client expectations.
  • Monitoring landscape health and care needs.
  • Diagnose primary turf problems and basic pest identification, as well as performs the chemical and fertilizer application.
  • Maintain proper documentation as required by The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
  • Assist in hiring and training of Spray Technicians.
