About The Position

Horticulture/Landscape Management Intern – Summer 2026 Expected Start Date: May 2026 (negotiable) Details $16.00 - $19.00 per hour (depending on qualifications) + opportunity for end of the season bonus! ($0.50 for every hour worked) Part Time (Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal Status), Non-Exempt Reports to Park Maintenance Supervisor Located at Maintenance Facility (15150 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55344) Typical hours are Monday- Friday, 7:00am-3:00pm; occasional overtime may be required. Responsibilities The Horticulture/Landscape Management Intern accomplishes tasks within a team environment to provide the citizens of Eden Prairie and other users of the City’s parks system with properly maintained and aesthetically pleasing facilities. This position is responsible for the following areas of impact: Provides maintenance to City park grounds. (mowing, turf maintenance, tree/shrub pruning) Performs specific gardening functions on City owned landscape areas (i.e. planting activities, weeding, mulching beds) Assists in installs and/or maintenance of park hardscapes (retaining walls, paver walkways and patio areas). Supports special user groups or events, such as city recreation programs by preparing park facilities. Ensures safety of all users through continual inspection of park property and amenities. Must demonstrate safe equipment operation and working conditions in traffic on City streets, parks and while entering confined spaces. While these areas are the primary focus of this position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Related experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) required.
  • Must be enrolled in and have completed at least one year coursework in a Horticulture, Landscape Management or similar degree program.
  • Valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record required.
  • This position requires the ability to lift/carry/push/pull at least 30-50 lbs, operate a motor vehicle, and work under all weather conditions.
  • Candidates must successfully complete and pass the City’s evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment. Pre-employment processes for this position includes professional reference checks, background check, driver’s license check, work verification and education verification if applicable.
