About The Position

Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP) is looking to hire a part-time, temporary horticulture intern who is passionate about public horticulture and looking to obtain hands-on experience in the field. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Horticulture, the Horticulture Intern will work alongside the Horticulture Staff and assist with the landscape management of the park. This internship is designed to prepare participants for seasonal and full-time employment opportunities within New York City's public horticulture industry.

• Ability to perform heavy, physical labor daily in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Acquire skills in: Native plant identification, Invasive species management, Hydrology, Turf maintenance, Botany, Propagation, Woody plant-care, Soil stabilization, Planting and establishment practices, Irrigation repairs, and Garden editing.
• Perform other duties associated with ecological horticulture.
