About The Position

The Exterior Gardener is responsible for the day-to-day gardening and horticulture operations, ensuring that all outdoor landscape areas are well-maintained and visually appealing. This role involves a variety of tasks, including planting, pruning, watering, and installing irrigation systems, while adhering to MGMRI standards of service to create a beautiful environment for guests and coworkers alike.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required
  • 2+ years of prior relevant experience in commercial landscape maintenance or resort setting required
  • 1+ years of prior relevant experience in landscape installation or renovation required
  • Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for always maintaining the MGMRI standards of service to guests and coworkers.
  • Plant and transplant flowers, shrubs, trees, hedges, and other vegetation; expertly prune to maintain shape and promote growth; water adequately considering weather conditions, location, and plant requirements.
  • Weed, fertilized, and monitor plant nutrition in flower beds and plant areas; apply chemicals as needed following safety guidelines and regulations; exercise proper horticultural practices and industry standards.
  • Install irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants, drainage, and soil composition.
  • Monitor and control pests and diseases to prevent damage to plants.
  • Clean and maintain outdoor spaces to include rock application, raking, blowing, washing, and similar activities.
  • Properly use a variety of manual hand tools such as rakes, hand saws, pruning shears, shovels, hoes, fertilizer spreaders, pesticide sprayers, sod knifes, and hedge shears.
  • Operate specialized power and motorized equipment such as blowers, hedge trimmers, light tractors, lawnmowers, chainsaws, and rototillers.
  • Drive and operate company vehicles, trailers, and/or specialized carts to travel between properties and transport materials and equipment.
  • Clean and maintain gardening tools, equipment, and supply areas to ensure good working conditions.
  • Follow MGMRI policies and procedures for mobile devices to include work order creation, response, and completion.
  • Inspect the work area to identify and report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor or management.
