About The Position

Backbone Construction is seeking a Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operator to join their rapidly growing team. This full-time position involves operating drilling equipment for underground fiber optic infrastructure projects, ensuring safety and quality standards are met while contributing to the company's commitment to client service excellence.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Valid CDL license.
• Ability to use Air Hammer Systems.
• Experience with All-Terrain/dual rod drills.
• Strong time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively.
• Familiarity with the 811 Call Before You Dig system and process.

Responsibilities

• Operate the drill in a safe and effective manner.
• Perform daily maintenance on the drill and truck.
• Conduct daily safety and maintenance checks.
• Uphold standards of quality in all operations.
• Haul, load, and unload equipment as needed.
• Assist in setting up job sites, including traffic cones and signs.
• Help set handhole, vault, and flowerpot structures.
• Perform physical labor tasks, including digging or trenching with shovels or digging equipment.
• Conduct job site clean-up and restoration activities.
• Follow all company safety, OSHA, and DOT policies.
