Homologation Specialist - Passive Safety

About The Position

The Passive Safety Homologation Specialist serves as the internal lead for regulatory compliance and certification for passive safety systems. This role functions as the global company's North American passive safety regulatory compliance and certification subject matter expert for domestic and import products providing guidance throughout the product development cycle. Additionally, the role also serves as the primary passive safety homologation lead contact for North American‑engineered exports supporting cross‑region inquiries and ensuring alignment with applicable passive safety regulatory requirements. Team members are expected to establish effective working relationships, founded on trust and transparency, with our internal and external partners. Sound judgment, excellent communication skills and the ability to drive decisions through consensus and influence change are a must.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience
  • Experience working on automotive systems and sub-systems such as Electrical (sensing/control modules), Chassis/Exterior/Body structures, fuel tanks/systems, or traction batteries in the context of vehicle impacts
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the global regulations that cover Safety/Impact topics
  • Automotive regulatory background, program management and automotive testing

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university

  • Strong familiarity with aligning NA TSRC (Technical Safety Regulatory Compliance) certification activities with the Stellantis Product Development Plan (PDP), including key milestones, deliverables, and cross‑functional integration points
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communications skills
  • Working knowledge of Stellantis standard engineering and homologation tools, including internal websites, databases, and document repositories used for regulatory tracking and program execution
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining high quality and attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Stellantis TSRC Processes and Procedures, including compliance documentation, issue escalation, and certification workflows

Responsibilities

  • Lead the certification strategy and execution for all passive safety systems, including occupant protection, crash structures, interior safety components, and restraint systems.
  • Support Engineering to ensure designs meet global passive safety regulations, including FMVSS, ECE, GB, and other international standards.
  • Develop and manage detailed certification plans, including testing schedules, documentation requirements, and agency interactions.
  • Interface with regulatory authorities and third-party labs to secure approvals and negotiate acceptance of compliance documentation.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and provide proactive guidance to ensure future programs remain compliant.
  • Represent the homologation function in design reviews, milestone meetings, and global program discussions.
