About The Position

The Technical Manager for Data Engineering/Machine Learning at Homes.com is responsible for leading a team in the development and operation of machine learning solutions for the company's products. This role involves collaborating with other engineering teams and product owners, taking ownership of the team's work, and influencing the technical strategy and architecture of the platform. The position offers a blend of leadership and hands-on technical guidance, fostering a culture of innovation and learning within the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited, not for profit university or college, preferably in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience leading a machine learning team.
• 8+ years of experience with applied machine learning engineering.
• 8+ years of programming experience in Python, C#, Java, or Scala.
• Real world experience with Recommendation, Computer Vision, or Text Mining systems.
• Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, model training, and evaluation.
• Experience with large-scale data pipelines.
• Experience collaborating with business and product leaders to solve open-ended problems using Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science.
• Ability to build and grow a high-performance software development team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong math and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with databases, such as DynamoDB, AWS RDS, or SQL Server.
• Experience solving streaming and batch data processing problems at scale.
• Experience with ML cloud tools such as Databricks, AWS Personalize, Rekognition.
• Exposure to Large Language Models (LLM) and Generative AI.
• Commercial Real Estate (CRE) knowledge is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Leading a team in the development and operation of Machine Learning solutions for Homes.com and CoStar products.
• Partnering with other engineering teams, product owners, and leadership on shipping great Machine Learning solutions.
• Taking full ownership of your team's work, from development and testing to eventual deployment and operation in production.
• Recruiting, leading, and mentoring a high-performing team.
• Influencing the technical strategy of our Machine Learning solutions.
• Providing hands-on technical guidance to your team.
• Fostering a culture of learning and innovation by understanding the latest technologies and techniques in building Machine Learning solutions.
• Acting as a trusted advisor in matters of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
• Advocating for evolution and improvement - both technical and non-technical - within our engineering teams.
• Gaining a deep understanding of the CoStar business.
