Homeownership Educator (Per Diem)
About The Position

Avesta Housing is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Homeownership Educator to instruct our first-time homebuyer's education classes. In this role, you guide first-time homebuyers through education and one-on-one counseling, helping them understand the buying process, stay financially prepared, and succeed as long-term homeowners. You balance teaching, coaching, and customer service while ensuring services meet program standards and advance Avesta Housing’s mission of affordable, stable housing. Requirements
- Strong public speaking and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work weekends.
- Degree in related field and/or relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in housing counseling, real estate, mortgage lending, financial education, social services, education or a related field.
- Experience facilitating group education sessions (e.g. workshops, training programs or public presentations)
- Knowledge of HUD, Maine State Housing Authority, or similar housing program requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with homeownership programs, mortgage lending processes, and affordable housing, preferred.
