About The Position

Join our not-for-profit organization that has provided over 100 years of housing and services to seniors with a commitment to quality care and service in a Christian environment. This position is for varied day and evening shifts. The Homemaker is responsible for certain duties including, but not limited to, monitoring and recording proper temperature of food, setting up and maintaining a clean and sanitized serving area, preparing and serving food items, restocking food areas, cleaning and sanitizing equipment and other related responsibilities. The Homemaker is also responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
  • Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Serv Safe certification may be required depending upon location.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required depending upon location.
  • Certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry may be required.
  • Valid driver's license and motor vehicle report may be required depending on responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Monitoring and recording proper temperature of food.
  • Setting up and maintaining a clean and sanitized serving area.
  • Restocking food areas.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing equipment.
  • Maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms.
  • Emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors.
  • Complying with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food service.
  • Providing outstanding customer service and effectively communicating with patrons and co-workers.
  • Demonstrating ability to establish effective working relationships.
  • Maintaining quality control standards.
  • Operating equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, and dishwashers.
  • Assisting in the laundry areas as appropriate.
