About The Position

The Homemaker will work in our memory support household, Meadow View, an innovative new memory support community, offering opportunities for people with dementia to live resiliently, regain their dignity, and find purpose! It is a secure building offering 40 memory support suites in 2 households.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 and have either a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to comprehend and practice education on dietary restrictions (i.e. regular diet, mechanical soft, puree).
  • Must be able to read menus, diet cards, recipes and understand measurements.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain ServSafe Certification.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and printed instructions.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain after hire).
  • Must be efficient and organized, with a good sense of responsibility and a high degree of personal hygiene and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with established policies and procedures and maintains established standards and practices including the Compliance Program/Code of Conduct.
  • Follows Residents' Rights policies at all times; treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as confidential.
  • Assists the household staff in cooking and serving of all resident meals; household encouraged mealtimes are as follows: Lunch 11:30am-1:30pm & Dinner 4:30pm-6:30pm.
  • Ensures that the varied needs of the residents are met by focusing on the residents' choices about their meals and food preferences.
  • Responsible for completing required paperwork (food temps, dish washer temps, refrigeration temps) as required by DHS.
  • Responsible for cleanup, sanitation and cleaning for the dining room and kitchen after every meal and in between mealtimes (i.e. sweeping after every meal & mopping after lunch).
  • Maintains compliance with all federal, state and local regulation governing safe food handling, holding, storage, and the ordering of food supplies, equipment, and work environment.
  • Properly stores and rotates all food items in the household when stock comes in each week.
  • Performs daily cleaning functions as per Household Cleaning checklist; and takes trash/recycling out to the dumpster before end of shift, or end of each mealtime.
  • Treats all residents, families, visitors and peers with dignity and respect, in a positive manner.
  • Supports household holiday events, meals and at times partners with Resilient Living Coordinator to ensure successful outcomes of large parties, gatherings, etc.
  • Will attend staff trainings; complies with safety, infection control and sanitation regulations for dietary and activities.
  • Encourages residents to participate in food related activities, may provide 1:1 attention to residents during mealtimes, or non-mealtimes.
