About The Position

The Homelessness Outreach Navigator supports the City of Arvada Homelessness Resolution Case Managers with street outreach and case management activities to persons experiencing homelessness within the City of Arvada. The focus of this work is to connect individuals with resources and services to assist them with stabilizing their homelessness, mental health, substance use and primary health conditions. The Homelessness Outreach Navigator will research available services and build rapport with unsheltered community members to connect with local non-profits and other service providers to identify possible solutions for individuals in need to resolve their homelessness. Work Schedule - This is a non-benefited, part-time position (20-25 hours per week).

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of the unhoused population.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information, both verbally and in writing, to support organizational objectives and interact with all levels of personnel within the city in a positive and cooperative manner.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • A valid Colorado driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required
  • Educational Progress toward a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology or other related fields and/or 60-hour training as a Peer Support Specialist.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License with a driving record that meets the organization's requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Acts in a supportive role to the Homelessness Resolution Case Managers to assist with homelessness street outreach efforts.
  • Acts as in-field case management to develop rapport with individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness.
  • Maintains relationships with local non-profits and other service providers to identify possible solutions for individuals in need.
  • Assists individuals in meeting basic needs for food, clothing, shelter and transportation.
  • Assists with applications for income, housing, behavioral/substance treatment or benefits.
  • Responds to email and phone inquiries for shelter, food, housing and other related assistance.
  • Reaches out to eligible clients to inform them of and educate them about available services in the community while maintaining contact with individuals to support their transition out of homelessness.
  • Supports case management and data entry in the Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS).
  • Frequently operates a personal or City-owned motor vehicle to drive to and from work locations throughout the City.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
