About The Position

The Homeless Response Coordinator will lead the City's initiatives to address unsheltered homelessness by collaborating with various City departments. This role focuses on planning, coordinating, and executing strategies to support individuals experiencing homelessness, particularly through direct outreach and service provision.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as social work, human services, mental health services, affordable housing, or public policy.
• Two years of experience working with people experiencing homelessness and engaging with various stakeholders.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to navigate complicated interpersonal dynamics and complex situations.

Responsibilities

• Perform street outreach work, interacting with persons experiencing unsheltered homelessness and making referrals to housing and shelter.
• Coordinate the response to unsheltered homelessness among city departments, including Health and MPD, to identify and provide services to those in need.
• Oversee the work of contracted street outreach teams, ensuring coverage of different geographic areas and achievement of housing goals.
• Collaborate with Hennepin County, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, and other partners to inform outreach coordination and activities.
• Prepare and present data related to unsheltered homelessness and street outreach outcomes.
• Represent the City in meetings with stakeholders, including elected officials and community members.
