About The Position

The Physical Therapy Assistant implements an individual patient therapy care plan that has been prepared by the Physical Therapist and works under the supervision of the Physical Therapist. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS Identifies possible ineffective drug therapy or adverse reactions, significant side effects, drug allergies, and contra-indicated medication and reports to supervisor. Observes and records activities and findings in the clinical record and reporting to the physician the client's reaction to treatment and any changes in the client's condition. Instructs other health team personnel including, the appropriate, home health aide and family members in certain phases of physical therapy with which they may work with the client. Participates with staff, client, and physician in discharge activities and assists the Physical Therapist in completing the Physical Therapy discharge summary within the designated framework of the Agency policies. Communicates effectively with all those providing care. Under the supervision of the physical therapist, assists in evaluation and development of the rehabilitative plan of care and in periodic re-evaluation as indicated. As directed, performs routine strengthening and therapeutic exercises. Assists in teaching exercise programs to patient and family. Consults with the therapist regarding the outcome of home visits and reports physical findings in written form. Writes daily progress notes on patients, and submits same within 72 hours, and prepares periodic summary reports as indicated.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Communicate effectively in English (the primary language of the residents)
  • Work well in a team or alone
  • Organized and flexible
  • Computer proficient
  • Must have at least 2 years’ Physical Therapy Assistant experience
  • Registered Physical Therapy Assistant in the State of Florida
  • CPR certification
  • This position requires a background screening through the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse
