About us: Foxdale Village, a life plan community guided by Quaker values, is a non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located in State College, PA. Foxdale was founded in 1985 by members of the State College Friends Meeting and is founded on the values of treating all with dignity and respect. Foxdale is regarded as a premier healthcare facility both locally and nationally and has been voted "Best Retirement Community in State College, PA" for over a decade. Foxdale Village includes 57 apartments and 148 cottages and offers a range of health services with 46 beds in skilled nursing for short and long-term care, two memory care neighborhoods, and 55 beds in personal care, all with private accommodations. We currently have an opportunity for a new Homecare Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team. We are hiring for Limited Part-Time/PRN position! We are hiring for a Limited Part-Time/PRN position and expected work Monday-Friday (8am-430pm) some days will be half days. CNA Job Summary: Responsible for delivering effective home care to clients according to their plan of care. This includes completing documentation, maintaining confidentiality, developing relationships with clients, and identifying and reporting problems with clients and equipment within their home.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Experience: Prior experience as a Direct Care worker or Certified Nursing Assistant is preferred.
  • Language: Must be able to effectively communicate in English.
  • Math: Must be able to complete tasks using basic math skills.
  • Computer: Must be able to enter resident care information via a touchscreen.
  • Training: Completion of Direct Care worker through Department of Human Services, Certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Health or certification from a state other than Pennsylvania with proof of transferring certification to Pennsylvania. Possession of a valid CPR card is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized care as outlined in the plan of care and as assigned by the supervisor confidently, effectively, and in a timely manner that encourages client’s independence within their home.
  • Work cooperatively with other Health Services staff and voluntarily assist co-workers as needed.
  • Participate in activities, programs, and incorporate rehabilitation principles into delivery of care to the clients.
  • Assume responsibility for and complete required documentation legibly and in a timely manner.
  • Carry out procedures as taught and defined in procedure and policy manuals.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the clients.
  • Participate in employee in-service education programs and safety drills.
  • Exhibit a friendly, caring approach while dealing with staff, clients, and family members.
  • Encourage stimulating conversation with each client.
  • Recognize and reports changes in clients’ physical, psychological, and social well-being to the supervisor
  • Suggest alternatives to general clients care when appropriate.
  • Identify and report problems within the home or other hazards immediately upon discovery.
  • Observe safety procedures such as fire, hygiene, and emergency.
  • Complete assigned tasks efficiently and correctly.
  • Maintain a neat and appropriate personal appearance.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance in order to meet the daily health care needs of the clients.
  • Provide escort services to outside appointments, as needed
