About The Position

As a Rotational Intern, you will be part of a world class homebuilding experience and will see and participate in the various business functions within KB Home, particularly in its field operations and departments. You will learn under leadership and members in each of the below listed departments (for the time period(s) indicated) to obtain a complete understanding of the homebuilding process, from early start, to close of escrow and warranty follow up. The remaining weeks of your internship will be spent in the department/focus area of most interest to you, with a goal of learning applicable on the job skills and competencies. This is a full‑time, Monday–Friday position running for 10–12 weeks during Summer 2026

Requirements

  • Are currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Real Estate, Urban Planning, Engineering, Business Administration, or other related field.
  • Possess critical thinking skills, are proficient in computer applications and software programs, and are highly organized.
  • Thrive in a team-oriented environment and value collaboration while also demonstrating independence and self-starter tendencies.
  • The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to move about work location.
  • Valid driver's license required: Local travel via automobile required within designated region to KB Home communities.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs.
  • Ability to observe details at close range and communicate information so others will understand.
  • Ability to transport and move up to 20 lbs and move as needed (for roles in Construction/Customer Service/IT/Land/Marketing/Sales/Studio).
  • Periodically works in outdoor weather conditions (for roles in Construction/Customer Service/Land/Sales).

Responsibilities

  • Land Acquisition – 1 week. Learn the process of identifying and acquiring/purchasing land.
  • Land Development and Forward Planning – 1 week. Learn how land is prepared for construction and the requirements of various cities and municipalities. Learn how projects are managed over the course of years during a project’s life.
  • Sales and Marketing – 1 week. Learn the skills of selling and how marketing captures and supports business objectives.
  • Daily Units Processing (escrow) – 2 days. Learn about mortgage, title, and other details of the escrow process.
  • Studio/Design – 3 days. Learn how design details and how personalization occurs for each homebuyer.
  • Purchasing – 1 week. Learn about supply chain management, bidding, negotiations, cost management, and product selection.
  • Operations/Construction – 1 week. Spend time on the construction site learning how a home is built, including scheduling trades, scheduling and passing inspections, and more.
  • Customer Service – 1 week. Learn how the process of home warranty repair work occurs, and the importance of providing quality care and support after a home is inhabited.
  • Work closely with our expert team – learning the homebuilding process from inception and planning to construction/build, close of escrow, and home warranty

  • Observe how our community (Construction, Customer Service & Sales) teams work together to deliver homes 100% Complete and On Time to every customer
