About The Position

The Homebound Teacher provides instruction for approximately one hour per day (or the amount of time determined through the IEP process) at the home (or other alternative, public, off-school site or virtual website, as may be determined) of a student who cannot attend school.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field required.
  • Current Colorado Department of Education Teachers License, Professional Colorado Teacher's license or 5-year sub authorization required.
  • Prior or current experience working with Special Education children highly preferred.
  • Knowledge with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.
  • Ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others on a team.
  • Aptitude for variety and changing expectations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado.

  • Experience working with Special Education children.

Responsibilities

  • Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
  • Observes, evaluates, reports, and records student performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Prepares lesson plans and materials according to District approved curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
  • Presents subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and instructional materials to meet varying needs and learning styles.
  • Instructs students individually using various teaching methods.
  • Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Prepares, administers, assigns, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.
  • Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve student behavior and academic problems.
